Ashley Lee has ridden and worked with horses since childhood, and as a therapist has worked with at-risk youth, seriously mentally ill adults, and trauma victims. While working as a therapist with sexually abused youth, Ashley became aware of a community need for different types of treatment, as not every person finds healing in an office. She became determined to utilize her horses in the mental health treatment of the children and families in her region.
Ashley discovered EAGALA and became certified as a mental health specialist and equine specialist in 2017. She has since become well-versed and trained in its application for both therapy and personal development purposes. Ashley's certification, as well as a wonderful business experience in 2018 with another EAGALA model professional, led to the creation of LEAD in 2019. LEAD is growing daily as Ashley continues to seek training and knowledge in this dynamic model in order to best serve others. Ashley is excited to share her horses, farm, and EAGALA and Natural Lifemanship experience with Cullman and surrounding counties in Alabama!
Our team consists of a Mental Health Professional, Equine Specialist, and the Horses. We periodically assist students in training to become a therapist or equine specialist. We are passionate about utilizing Horses to LEAD Towards Self-Discovery!
Ashley is a National Certified Counselor and a Licensed Professional Counselor. She specializes in working with trauma victims, at-risk youth, and children/families involved in the foster care system. She also has extensive experience working with seriously mentally ill adults and emotionally disturbed youth and teens. Ashley is certified in TF-CBT and also utilizes TBRI and Solution Focused techniques in her sessions. She believes that incorporating experiential learning is often most effective and the quickest path to healing.
Ashley's passion for horses started early, and she grew up riding, competing, teaching lessons, and working with horses. She always knew her time with the horses kept her grounded and emotionally healthy. After becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor, she sought out a way to use horses in her therapy. She was thrilled to discover the EAGALA model and to complete her EAGALA certification in 2017. Ashley has continued her education with Natural Lifemanship and is level two trained in the model. She recognizes that the learning never stops and strives to stay on top of the latest interventions and research on trauma, human development, and behavior.
