Ashley Lee has ridden and worked with horses since childhood. She was blessed to start a family on a farm in Cullman County where she has been able to keep horses and maintain the lifelong dream of horse ownership.
As a therapist she has worked extensively with at-risk youth, seriously mentally ill adults, and trauma victims. Ashley is certified in TF-CBT, but while working as a therapist with sexually abused youth, Ashley became aware of a community need for different types of treatment. She sees that not every person finds healing in an office, and movement is integral to healing the body from trauma. She became determined to utilize her horses in the mental health treatment of the children and families in her region.
This led Ashley to discover EAGALA and she became certified as a mental health specialist and equine specialist in 2017. She has since become well-versed and trained in its application for both therapy and personal development purposes. With time, patience, and a whole lot of faith, Ashley created LEAD in 2019. She has continued to grow her knowledge in the equine assisted psychotherapy field while developing knowledge in trauma and various therapy applications. Ashley became level two trained in Natural Lifemanship in 2023 and feels the model aligns with her personal goals of connection and healthy relationships for clients and their families. She enjoys sharing her knowledge and experience with the children and families in Cullman and surrounding counties in Alabama!
Our team consists of a Mental Health Professional, Equine Specialist, and the Horses. Although Ashley primarily serves both human roles, she periodically assists students in training to become a therapist or equine specialist. Additional staff are contracted with for corporate or summer groups. We are committed to making a difference in the lives of others. Above all, our team believes in learning, growth, and change. We are passionate about utilizing Horses to LEAD Towards Self-Discovery!
